There are no countries in Antarctica. The continent is governed by an international treaty called the Antarctic Treaty System, which designates Antarctica as a scientific preserve and prohibits military activity on the continent. Multiple countries operate research stations in Antarctica for scientific purposes.

There are no countries located in Antarctica. However, seven countries have claimed land on the continent: Chile, Argentina, the United Kingdom, France, Norway, Australia, and New Zealand. Also, two countries have reserved the right to do so in the future, if necessary: the United States and Russia. Brazil, Peru, and South Africa have also reserved the rights to make claims, however, this is not recognized by the Antarctic Treaty and most likely will not be recognized by any other countries.
