An Executive Branch of Government, a Legislative Branch consisting of a Senate and an Assembly and a Judiciary Branch.
The Senate and the House of Representatives are both part of the Legislative branch. The Legislative branch (Congress) creates and passes laws; the Judicial branch, headed by the US Supreme Court, evaluates challenged laws to ensure they are constitutional; the Executive branch enforces laws.
The idea was for the three parts of government make sure that the government would not be run by tyrants. The three parts of government are Legislative Branch, Executive Branch and Judicial Branch.
The legislative branch make laws. The executive branch enforces the laws. The judicial branch interprets the laws.
