The Beetle wiring loom wouldn't weigh that much compared to other car wiring looms due to the lack of air conditioning ( at least for the majority of them) and heater systems wiring. Modern vehicles have much heavier looms due to the complexity of electronics involved. I have not found a source that gave weights for wiring looms.

you need the special keys that slide down the side of the radio to unlock it from its casing, you can get them from halfords, there are many different type of keys so be sure you get the correct ones once you insert the keys into the radio it should slide out of its casing with a gentle tug, and you can then unclip the wiring loom and aerial
