The JC Higgins Mod 20 is a High Standard Mod 200, an aluminum frame shotgun, so I see only a couple of problems. The High Standard company went out of business before 3" magnum shells were released to the market, so their shotguns were never designed for the higher pressures of magnum shells. In addition, the longer shell would protrude into the forcing cone at the breech end of the barrel and when the shell was fired, the folded end of the shell would be impeded from unfolding by the forcing cone, resulting in higher pressures. These two factors could well combine to shatter the receiver and blast aluminum shrapnel into your face.
Other than that, no problem.
Only if chambered for 3"
The .327 Federal magnum case is 1/8 inch longer and has a chamber pressure of @45,000 psi. The 32 H&R magnum has a chamber pressure of @ 20,000 psi You can shoot .32 H&R magnums in a gun chambered for .327 Federal magnums - but not vice versa
Yes it has 2types of magnums which need special magnum ammo.

how many 22 magnums model number 225 were made
My magazine, I have 2, plus my chamber is for 3 inch magnum. I have fire 3 inch #4 magnums in it for years without a single failure. I actually grab it for most of my hunting rather than my pump.
Magnums!
