A prophet was someone who acted as an intermediary between God and His people. Jesus said "Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them." So with the coming into effect of the New Covenant at the Last Supper "'this cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood." (Luke Ch.22) there will be no more intermediaries like Moses and the Prophets because the consequences of the sin of Adam no longer apply and God again deals personally with each one of His people.
