The greatest advantage is an independent judiciary that does not depend on the whims of government officials or even the electorate. Judges have to make unpopular decisions sometimes. The biggest disadvantage is that it can be difficult or impossible to get rid of a judge that turns out to be incompetent.

Appointed judges are appointed for life, so it is possible that their decisions are not based on getting reelected. One con is that many life appointed judge should retire but remain in office past the time of effectiveness.

Elected and appointed may have an "agenda". You need to decide if it's an election year what you really know about the prosecuting attorney's past. It's really a belief/ or non in the county you live in.
