The success of 3D television is not yet fully demonstrated. It is still an emerging technology and observers have yet to confirm that it is indeed successful. However, consumers are buying 3D models because it represents the next step forward in television technology and no doubt will continue to do so.
The choice between active and passive is subjective. Active systems use a full resolution frame and cuts the image rapidly between the left and right eye. Some viewers report that they notice flickering with this system. Others do not see any flicker and it depends largely on the model and manufacturer. Passive systems split the screen into alternate lines so each eye sees only half of the total number of lines. The resolution is effectively reduced to 540 lines (compare this against the 480 or 576 lines of standard definition television). The problem of flicker is avoided at the expense of the lower resolution.
So, which is best? That is a matter of opinion and the only way to decide is to see both technologies and decide which offers the best image and most comfortable viewing.

Active solar is much more complicated. Passive solar heating has no moving parts, but utilizes windows and the sun. The position of the house is very important. Active solar heating uses solar panels to produce electricity for heating, or pumps to move water warmed by the sun.
