No, the first pizza as we know it today originated in Italy, specifically Naples, in the late 18th century. It was a flatbread topped with ingredients like tomatoes, cheese, and various toppings. While various cultures had their own versions of flatbreads with toppings, the modern pizza is distinctly Italian in its creation and evolution.
------------------------- actually, I believe it originated in Italy. I actually read an article about this, it all started a long time ago when in the areas bordering the Mediterranean sea , they started making flatbreads with many different spices on it to give it flavor (some of these flatbreads had cheese melted on top.) But of course, none of them are actually pizza's, because they didn't have tomato sauce. BUT in Italy they had no tomatoes, because back then, tomatoes were only in the "new world" (America) which of course, had not been discovered. So, once Spain colonized there, they brought tomatoes back to Europe. However, pizza's still did not exist, because nobody had tried to put tomato sauce on the flatbreads. So, when Italian king Umberto the first, visited a restaurant that was owned by a cook of flatbreads, the cook decided to try something new, so he made a huge flatbread that would look like the Italian flag, and for the color red, he used tomato sauce. the king loved it and the idea spread around. now, its one of the most common foods. -hope this helps!
Commercial pizza ovens may be useful for a variety of other items, but for home ovens the options are limited, since the shape of the oven tends to very wide but also very short. Foccacia or other flatbreads might be a possibility in such a space.
