The damage was extensive, five-sixths of the City destroyed, 13,200 houses burnt, together with 84 churches, 44 livery company halls and most of the public buildings. Over a hundred thousand people were made homeless, thousands of citizens were ruined, and a great proportion of the country's wealth was lost.

The great fire of london caused so much damage because the houses were very close togther and they were made out of wood ! It had been a dry summer in london so the houses could easily catch alight but the night of the fire there was heavy wind which also contributed towards the great fire of london spreading. Londoners tried to put the fire out by getting water from the thames but the thames was blocked of my loads of fallen down buildings and fire . There was alot of blood fuid during the fire for example the londoners needed someone to blame and they thought forginers would be a good idea , weeks before the fire england won a victory over the dutch so they imedatily thought that is was a retalition from the dutch.

The Great Fire of London started in a bakers shop in Pudding Lane on 2nd September 1666 and burned for five days. By the time that the fire had burned itself out, it had destroyed 13,200 houses, 87 churches, 1 cathedral and made 70,000 people homeless. There are only 6 known deaths from the fire but it eradicated the Bubonic Plague which had started in London the previous year and killed an estimated 100,000 people, 20% of London's population.

There were some benefits of the fire. One of these was that the black plague which had killed many people was eliminated by the burning down of diseased, rat-infested properties.

The fire destroyed 13,200 houses, 87 churches, 1 cathedral and left 70,000 people homeless, around 20% of the population. Unbelievably, there are only 6 recorded deaths due to the fire.
