Steroids are essential to the body of an organism. They are needed for hormones and cholesterol. Thus, natural steroids are actually helpful, not harmful. But, like most lipids, they can be dangerous if used excessively. They can cause "roid rage" which is caused due to the testosterone you take in. Also, gradual muscle deterioration is a side effect that can sometimes occur if one isn't careful. Steroids should always be regulated by a doctor, and are not to be taken lightly. They have proven to be fatal in the past.

***The statement below is not based on any legitimate research or knowledge. These are the same things we were taught in health class 20 years ago, and are unsubstantiated claims based off of no known facts. There has not been one death associated with steroid use EVER!. Yet, aspirin kills more than 1,000 people per year, tobacco kills more than 400,000, and alcohol kills more than 75,000. It is more dangerous to drink too much water than to do steroids. Anabolic steroids cause many different types of problems. Less serious side effects include acne, purple or red spots on the body, swelling of legs and feet, persistent bad breath, and less commonly jaundice, or yellowing of the skin. Other side effects are:

premature balding dizziness mood swings, including anger, aggression, and depression nausea vomiting trembling high blood pressure that can damage the heart or blood vessels aching joints greater chance of injuring muscles liver damage shortening of final adult height

Risk for girls include:

facial hair growth masculine trait development and loss of feminine body characteristics, such as shrinking of the breasts menstrual cycle changes

Risk for guys include:

testicular shrinkage pain when urinating breast development impotence (inability to get an erection) sterility (inability to have children)

Steroid users who inject the drugs with a needle may be at greater risk for contracting HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), the virus that causes AIDS, if they share needles with other users. They are also at greater risk for contracting hepatitis, a disease of the liver. This is particularly scary because it can be impossible to tell if your friend or an athlete on your team is sick. It's not enough to take their word for it; sharing needles is never safe.

Anabolic steroids are so controversial because of all the health risks associated with them. Most are illegal and are banned by professional sports organizations and medical associations. If an athlete is caught using steroids, his or her career can be destroyed.

Some people combine or "stack" anabolic steroids with other drugs. Because it is difficult to understand how the drugs interact, there is the possibility of taking a deadly combination. Just as many medications should not be taken together, anabolic steroids have the same potential for negative interactions. Emergency departments have reported cases of vomiting, tremors, dizziness, and even coma (unconsciousness) when patients were admitted after taking combinations of steroids.

Steroids can also have serious psychological side effects. Some users become aggressive or combative, developing "roid rage," extreme, uncontrolled bouts of anger caused by long-term steroid use. Others experience irritability, paranoia, and severe depression when they try to stop taking steroids.

Some of the long-term effects of steroids may not show up for many years. Lyle Alzado, a former Los Angeles Raiders defensive lineman, believed his prolonged use of steroids caused the rare form of brain cancer that affected his central nervous system before he died. If users could see the results of their steroid use in 5, 10, or 25 years, would they still take them? Probably not.

Alternatives to Steroids Being a good athlete means training the healthy way: eating the right foods, practicing, and strength training without the use of drugs. Not only will you be improving your sports performance, you'll also be taking good care of your body. Using "Show-Tech" is a great way to reap the benefits of cell volumization without the harmful side effects and dangers of steroid use!
