The Boreal Forest has many bodies of water in it's landscape, partly due to depressions in the soil resulting from passing glaciers. There are two types of Boreal forests, Open lichen woodland, where the trees are spaced with lichen growing in between, and Closed forests, where the trees are crowded and the forest floor is covered with moss. Boreal Forests are found in Northern Asia, Canada, and the Upper U.S.
