Okay well I have a 1999 Ford Taurus and I have heard that when a Taurus reaches about 120,000 miles the tranny is bound to fail. Mine revs up real high and feels like I'm driving in neutral and has a smell. When it happens my speedometer stops working, which is powered by the tranny. Hope that helps you.
as long as you have an the sAME TRANSMISSIONS THEY WILL BE INTGERCHANGABLE.
depends if they are the same transmission. look at the model numbers on the ID charts on each one
Three two engine and a transmission mount .
There were very little changes made between the 1996 and 1999 model years. This makes the parts very interchangeable - including the transmission.
1996 Taurus never equipped w/ 4 wheel drive
some metal in pan is ok.
Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid for the automatic transaxle ( according to the owners manual )
neither...it should have 14.63 volts
In the pan about 4 quarts, 4-5 more in the torque converter.
The transmissions are interchangeable. You just have to make sure they carry the same transmission. There will be a model number on the bottom on the tranny pan probably AX4N or something like that.. If the number matches, then go to town!
yes you can use the engine if you use all brackets, mounts and exaust manifolds that came out of the car that your puting the eingne in. the transmission may fit check tag numbers to verify the transmission is the same because ford used mor than 1 transmission in these years
no the Taurus is front wheel drive and the ranger rear wheel drive therefor the motor mounting and transmission set up are compltley different
