With most common "radio codes" systems the code input phase gets locked out if an improper code is attempted (iirc after the 3rd failure). You must then wait at least 1 hour with the radio powered up (IE ignition on in acc and radio on for example) before attempting code again. Note that the power must not be turned off and on or lockout timer starts again!
