As with most birth defects there are many levels of disability from almost nonexistent to severe and life threatening. Since each case of Spina Bifida is as unique as the child who is born with the defect here are a few of the more common symptoms:. paralysis, hydrocephalus, latex Allergies (85% of those with SB develop an allergy to latex), learning disabilities (ADD is a common complaint) and bladder and bowel complications.
