'Horse' is a species. You can't even say there are subspecies of horse- what you are looking for is 'breed'. People believe there are 3 main proto-horse types from which we get the different breeds of modern horse and pony. Nowadays you hear of light type horses (like skinny Arabs) cob/heavy type horses (like massive cart-pulling Shires) etc. It's true alot of modern breeds can trace their origin to another breed established fairly recently, however they are considered distinct enough to be a completely separate breeds. There are hundreds if you count some obscure indigenous breeds, some more primitive than others. Some common breeds you may have heard of are Clydesdale, Percheron, Arab, Shetland, Camargue, New Forest Pony, Warmbloods (according to their country) thoroughbreds, Caspian, Mustang, Barb, Andulucian, Brumby, Tenessee walking horse, hackney etc You also have horse types according to the jobs they are best suited to. They are usually a mix of different breeds but they are too varied to be called a breed (like how people think pitbulls are a breed for some reason) they are polo ponies, hunters, racehorses (usually thoroughbreds or Arabs) etc Although microchipping is more common now, some breeds have their own special brand marks like a Haflinger. Hope that was helpful. I'm just a kid so I don't know more specific info on horses, sorry ^^
a horse of course
A horse is of the equine species.
If you meant horse "genus", there is only one, Equus, which contains the domestic horse E. caballus, plus three wild horse groups, the zebra, of which there are several species, the ass of which there are also several species, and a mongolian horse, E. przhevalskii.
Depending on their species, male deer are called stags, harts, bucks or bulls
NO
The Arabian horses species is the exact same as all other horse breeds. E.Ferus.
There are 100+ original species but people breeded new species. the above refers to 'breeds' not 'species'! Humans bred different breeds of horse. There is possibly 1 species of wild horse still existing in Outer-Mongolia, but all domestic horses are the 1 species!! (As are dogs, cats, etc)
The Camargue horse is not a separate species, nor are their 'sub-species' of the breed. All modern horse breeds belong to the same species, Equus Caballus
