Primary health care centres are the tertiary level health care facilities that reaches closest to people. It is aimed at providing health care to all in India and every district in India has atleast one PHC.
Examples of tertiary care services are cancer management, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, plastic surgery, treatment for severe burns, advanced neonatology services, palliative, and other complex medical and surgical interventions. Government and private tertiary care facilities are also undertaking preventive activities to certain extent in spite of various constraints in their given localities and giving significant preventive healthcare relief to the individuals and communities in the target areas through primary health care system.

The general hospitals of today provide all levels of care, as described below: Primary Care - for colds, flus, bacterial or viral diseases, broken bones, sort muscles, skin rashes, etc. Secondary Care - secondary care is given by health care providers who specialize in specific ares of the medical field, such as cardiologists for heart health, and oncologists for cancers, etc. Tertiary Care - this level of care requires a higher level of specialty care within the hospital and also requires the patient's admission into the hospital. Highly specialized equipment and expertise, and intensive surgeries are treatments or procedures listed in tertiary care. Quaternary Care - this level of care is considered to be an extension of tertiary care, only more specialized and often highly unusual, even experimental. Not every hospital offers quaternary care because it is so specialized.
There are usually three levels of care for senior independent living facilities. Level 1 residents are generally in need of very little assistance. These residents are usually in good health, mentally and physically. Level 2 residents may need more assistance in daily activities such as bathing, eating, etc. They also may require some health care. Level 3 residents require a HIGH level of care. These residents are extremely poor health; they may suffer from dehabilitating diseases that make constant care a necessity. They may also be handicapped physically.
