93 civic has a timing belt... if its dual overhead cams, it is nessecary to find the timing marks.. set them properly to their marks as well as the crankshaft. once these are properly set slip your timing belt on and then find the mark for your idler pulley.. reinstall everything and drive away
I am not familiar with this engine in particular but most engines have the timing marks stamped into the block with a corresponding dot or arrow on the crankshaft damper which tells you where top dead center (TDC) is. After aligning these timing marks you would look at the camshaft sprocket(s). If it is a single overhead cam (SOHC) there will be markings similar to those for the crankshaft, one on the cylinder head and another on the camshaft sprocket. Or, if it is a dual overhead cam (DOHC) there is typically one arrow on each of the camshaft sprockets that you align to be pointing at one another.
Exhaust cam, is the cam that control valve timing on a DOHC, (DUAL OVERHEAD CAM) motor.
This is the first time for me to work on a Suzuki and I can't seem to get the head off to replace the gasket or to see if the head is cracked is there a trick to removing the head on a 2001 Suzuki esteem 1.8 with dual overhead cam
The water pump in the 2.7 runs off the timing chain, replacement can be a lengthy process and should be done by someone who is well experienced with dual overhead can timing
doubt it, the storm is an Isuzu the tracker a suzuki
sounds like the same thing that went wrong with my 98 mercury mystique it was the timing belt!! the dual overhead cam timing marks were off a tooth or two
On a dual overhead cam: the marks will align at 3:00 on the left cam to 9:00 on the right cam. The lower crankshaft gear will line up at 12:00 with the arrow on the engine corresponding to the arrow on the crank.
A VG30DE is a Dual Overhead Cam engine (DOHC) with individual ignition coil and use a timing chain ...while VG30E is a Single Overhead Cam (SOHC) with spark plug wires and use timing belt...
Why would you have to install new gears? They are actually cogged sprockets. It depends if you have a single overhead cam or dual overhead cam engine. All assecory belts need to be removed and front right engine mount. Remove crankshaft pulley with applicable puller. Remove timing cover. Loosen timing belt tensioner. Align all cam and crank marks install belt and tighten and re assemble. Not a job you want to do under a shade tree!
No Ford Crown Victoria or Police intercaptor has dual overhead cams. The dual overhead cam engines were only used in Mustangs and Lincoln MK8's.
The single overhead cam 2.0 sohc usually bends valves. The 2.0 dohc, dual overhead cam, is usually ok.
