What you'll discover in the Sookie Stackhouse novels is that Sookie is part fairy. Fairies/Fairy blood is extremely desirable to vampires.
more then a few million the novels are apprciated by all age groups and people find it an easy read
There are 9 Sookie Stackhouse novels as of May 2009. The 10th comes out in October. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So far, there are nine books....."A touch of Dead" is supposedly a compilation of all the sookie stackhouse books....i dunno how CH did it but she did. So, the continuation (official 10th book) will be released nxt yr (May 2010, i think). Also, I've read somewhere that she signed on for 3 more sookie novels....so maybe 12 in total? --------- Edit by: PixeeStyx There are 10 Sookie Stackhouse novels at the moment. Charlaine Harris has signed a contract to write at least 3 more. She is not sure if she will write more after that, though.

i;m a big fan of true blood, and still i didn;t know about this book. so i made some research, and for your answer i found exactly what you need: http://www.tastekid.com/ask?f=1&q=the+Sookie+Stackhouse+series
The Tru Blood beverage is explained on HBO's show True Blood, as well as in the Sookie Stackhouse novels written by Charlaine Harris. Tru Blood is a synthetic blood substitute created by the Japanese for vampires now that they have come "out of the coffin". It comes in the flavors of A, B, O, and AB, all in positive and negative.
They all want her because she is part fairy. Certain vampires such as Russell, want her because they believe that her blood or powers can bring the dead vampires to life again.
Alexander's character 'Eric Northman' is in all ten of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, and Alexander himself has never mentioned leaving the show, so no! The show often doesn't follow the books, though. So if his contract is up and he wants out, they better offer a hell of a lot of money! Most of the female audience only watches for him, Alcide, and then Bill.
In both the books and TV show, Bill and Sookie permantly broke up as of Book 3 'Club Dead' and as far as the show, I'm pretty sure if they still going by the book, that will be the same. But they broke up because Bill went back to his former lover and maker, and had sex, Bill had planned to pension Sookie off and stay with Lorena, and Sookie began to hate him for that. So they broke up. Personally, I think Eric and Sookie are just PERFECT for each other. Eric is just amazing. And like I said, if they make a True Blood season for every True Blood book, and stick by the book then in the end, Sookie and Eric will be married.
The author, Charlaine Harris answered this question on her website. She gave a resounding no. So, to answer your question, the author claims that Sookie doesn't become a vampire in her series.......BUT given that some things in the TV series aren't totally canon with the books, it's hard to tell. She may, she might not.
