Start up by the engine were the exhaust pipes hook to the engine and work your way back to the muffler and you will find 4 of them screewed into the exhaust pipes. They are about 4 inches long with an electric wire hooked to them.

For any Mondeo with a Zetec engine (Zetec will be written on the air plenum chamber towards the rear of the engine bay) it's on the front of the engine, just to the right of the exhaust manifold. It's a circular valve pushed into a black rubber grommet and has a tube coming out of the top that goes back under the thermostat housing. On early Zetec's it will be behind a couple of metal EGR pipes, later models didn't have these pipes so access is easier.
