The hours worked by a veterinary technician are quite variable and depend on the type of practice worked in and the hours that the owner wishes to be in operation. Clinics may be open 24/7, only during the week from 7am-5pm, only on the weekends and nights and holidays, etc. Veterinary technicians may also be on-call during the off hours just like vets and doctors.

The answer to that is at least 7 - 3 years of undergraduate college and 4 years of vet school. If you figure that you need at least 40 hours of school a week for 30 weeks a year to complete the classes, the math says you need at least 8400 hours of school.

They would schedule this with the clinic and can take them pretty much any time throughout the year. However, veterinarians tend to be on call for weekends, nights and holidays to respond to emergencies, so veterinarians are less likely to pick holidays as vacation time unless the clinic can afford to spare them.
