Pain, pain and more pain, usually low down on the right or left side, if on the right it may be confused with appendicitis.
You may or may not miss a period and have other signs and symptoms of pregnancy.
I notice from an answer you have given elsewhere that you have recently had a tubal ligation. Get to the emergency room immediately as you may indeed have an ectopic.

I had an ectopic pregnancy earlier this yr, i tested on the fri and it was negative, on the Saturday i started my period it was a little hevier but nothing painfull or anything a I thought was not right. after my period had finished I tested again as I hadnt had a period before this one for 3 months and although I was very irregular I had never gone that long without one. My test was positive I started to have bleeding again and pain on my right side lower abdomen, if you susspect something is not right get your self checked out sooner rather than later thus avoiding emergancy intervention, hope my experience helps others understand a bit more

no one can give u a definite answer on this one (apart from the hospital after tests) as every woman is different the reason i am saying this is because with my ectopic pregnancy i had no pain whatsoever the only symptom i got that something was wrong was when i started spotting (my doctor ruled out ectopic pregnancy as i wasnt in discomfort) my surgeon couldn't believe i was not in any pain either as after surgery he said i was lucky to be alive as my tube had ruptured and i had lost so much blood so the only way to find out for sure is to get it checked out!
