Besides standard American etiquette, there are some no-nos when meeting with Mexicans:
Calling an elder person by "Tu" instead of "Usted".
Conversations with the church, Mexican politics and Soccer teams as main topic (they can be used to start debates, though).
Anything that has to do with the Mexican-American war (when Mexico lost half of its territory to the US).

Sometimes people just make mistakes or they may have grown up in an environment where the parents never taught him proper manners so you need to be honest with him and tell him what he did wrong and teach him the proper manners he needs to know. Poor manners does not mean the person is not a bad person so try helping him out.
