She [Violetta Valery] meets Alfredo Germont and they fall in love. His father [Giorgio Germont] totally disapproves as she is a courtesan. She is terminally ill with consumption and at the end his father, regretting what he has done, comes with a doctor. But it is all too late and Violetta dies in Alfredo's arms.
