The traction control was introduced in 1993. The new software is an optional add-on that was designed as a Saturn exclusive feature.
A traction control system is an anti lock braking system, designed to prevent less traction of driven wheeled vehicles. It is also called an anti slip regulation.
If your SC300 does not have the TRAC option, then it does not have traction control. But I know nothing about TRAC systems, so I couldn't tell you how to turn it on. :)
That is the way it is designed, assuming it is like the 96, 99, and 2002 antilock/traction control systems on the SC2's that I have owned. The turn off switch is a push button that toggles the traction control between on and off, but does not lock in the on position.
As far as I know Traction control of any kind is banned in F1, and the ECUs are standardized to enforce the ban
When the traction light is on you have the traction control turned on in your vehicle and traction control is activated. Traction control is applying brakes to a wheel that losing traction.
Traction control in Formula 1 is designed to stop the tyres excessively spinning when the driver applies full throttle, but since 2008 the device has been banned in Formula 1
Kinetic Traction Systems was created in 2010.
Turning off traction control turns off the traction control. This is useful if you don't want the traction control.
on. if you cut traction control off the vehicle runs fine
YES I had a problem one, never did get the "feel" for it just turned it off. This is the way traction control systems normally work though; most of the time you'll find that they're doing more good than harm. Some badly designed traction control systems (mostly on Hondas and Toyotas) also cut power to the engine, which can be dangerous in traffic; it's good to disable these before crossing an intersection or passing.
