There are two parts to a lipid. They have a nonpolar fatty acid tail (in the case of phospholipids, there are two fatty acidy tails). These tails are then connected to a polar glycerol head (which in the case of phospholipids have a phosphate attached). Phospholipids' primary role is in the formation of the cell membrane, forming a lipid bilayer. The nonpolar tails are drawn to each other as the polar heads remain comfortably bathed in cytoplasm or extracellular fluid.

umm if im not mistaken the phospholipids structure is made up of two parts the head and the tails the head face outside and the tails form the inner layer the head is a polar portion and starts with NH3 the tails are non-polar one tail is a saturated fatty acid chain and the other tail is an unsaturated fatty acid chain but if ur talking about something else idk im just a freshman in high school so dnt get mad if im a little off
