You answered your own question. There are the Continental United States , or contiguous states, and the non-contiguous States . Although Alaska is continental , it touches no other state.
Hawaii and Alaska
A non-continental state is often referred to as an "island nation" or "island state." These countries are primarily located on islands and do not have a land connection to continental landmasses. Examples include nations like Japan, Madagascar, and the United Kingdom. Additionally, there are non-contiguous states, such as Hawaii in the United States, which are separated from the main landmass.
There are two states that are not attached to the continental United States. Alaska (Postal Abbreviation: AK) is separated from the continental United States by Canada. Hawaii (HI) is separated from the continental United States by the Pacific Ocean.
