The president is elected and so must be sensitive to the will of the voters. The people he appoints therefore are also sensitive to the voters or else the President can fire them. The president is responsible for managing many departments of government. He needs to be able to choose people that he can work with and who share his ideals and goals of good government. (In actuality, the President appoints a much smaller percentage of federal employees that was the case before civil service laws were passed.)

It is in the U.S. Constitution, Article II, Section2, Clause 2.
The President has unfettered, exclusive power to remove his appointees without approval from the legislature. This power is restricted to those whose positions are units of, and subordinate to, the executive department.
An appointment power refers to the authority granted to a person, typically in a position of authority, to select or assign individuals to certain roles, positions, or tasks. This can include appointing individuals to specific jobs, committees, or advisory roles within an organization or government.
In a will or trust, a general power of appointment allows the holder to use discretion to distribute the property. A limited power of appointment limits the distribution to a named class. With regard to trusts, a trustor who retains a power of appointment also retains ownership in the property for tax purposes, probate purposes and in the case of attaching creditors. You should always seek the advice of an attorney who specializes in wills and trusts for the drafting of an instrument that will both meet your needs and federal and state legal requirements. You may read more about powers of appointment at the link provided below.
The Senate has the 'confirmation power', they confirm or deny all of the presidents appointments (cabinet, judicial, ambassador). The senate's confirmation power the senate shares with the president the responsibility for filling many high-level government positions.
The Boss worked good with the people around him because he knows them.
The President has the constitutional power to grant pardons.
A patronage appointment is a system in which individuals are appointed to positions of power or influence by government officials based on political connections rather than merit or qualifications. This practice can lead to corruption and inefficiency in governance as appointments may not always be made based on the individual's abilities to perform the job effectively.
