you'll never see a floyd rose or whammy bar system for that matter on an acoustic , or say Electric Guitar pickups that are designed specifically for Guitars.
stoptail pieces for tuneomatics on say les paul guitars
locking nuts for floyd roses
knobs right on the face of the guitar like an electric
on cheap acoustic guitars I've seen them made without trussrods which shocked me

Can you use your Electric-Acoustic with an Electric amp?
Sure you can but, it will not sound near as good as if you use an amp made just for acoustic guitars. Electric guitar amps all have distortion even if it is set and sounds perfectly clean to your ears....distortion is not an acoustic guitars friend. If you dont believe me go to a guitar store and plug in an electric acoustic into each amp...you will see what I mean.
Are all solid body guitars electric?
Pretty much, yes. Solid body guitars dont have resonance chambers like the hollow bodies do. They dont make much sound unless you plug them into something, so it would be pretty pointless to make a solid body guitar that wasnt electric.

electric for two main reasons: easier to play you can get thinner strings which are easier on your fingers , the necks tend to be thinner as well so if you don't have big hands this makes things easier to start. You can lower the strings closer to the neck very easily on an electric as well. they are also quieter if you live in an apartment or noise is an issue lets face it none of us are Van Halen or Yngwie Malmsteen good the first year or two learn guitar tabliture fast and scales really do help

If by one effect pedal, you're actually asking if one effect pedal will work for both regular and bass guitars, the answer is yes, but.... there are effects that are made to work specifically with the lower bass range for a bass guitar- which wont be as effective when using with a regular guitar- and vice-versa. So, in general, yes you can use virtually any effect pedal, with any guitar/instrument... but the effect will be varied in intensity depending on what the effect was initially designed for. Just say that it's the next step in your "music career" or however you wanna put it. tell them that it will help you enhance your music skills and variety of instruments. i had an assignment on persuasive arguments, and you should tell them something that they will like or will benefit them. for example, "maybe i could get a scholarship on guitar" or something. that's how i got a laptop. just give them reasons why it's a good idea and why it's not wasting money. you should also make them a deal. they may be reluctant because they dont think you'll only play your electric and not the acoustic anymore. make sure to tell them that you'll stick to both. also tell them something along the lines of there are types of music that you can play with an electric and not an acoustic. it may not work right away , but keep at it. dont loose patience!
