Politicians use the media extensively and relentlessly to accomplish their less-than-noble political purposes. The mainstream media, which is quite liberal, almost always sides with the Democratic Party on every issue.
Politicians, especially in later years, have used the media to trash their opponents and those they don't like. In examples such as the Watergate Scandal under president Nixon and the Iran-Contra Scandal under Reagan, the media tried to destroy each of them with full force, because they were of different political party associations, not necessarily for justice's sake. It does not take much for the political realm to trump justice anymore.
In President Obama's years as president, he has involved himself, in the act of covering up, in a number of serious scandals: IRS Scandal, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, AP scandal, Rosengate, NSA, and a number of other severe Constitutional violations worthy of the title. The media really has protected Obama, because, in the same respect, they created him.
People have long been called racists, sexists, and every other name under the sun.
One fascinating example of the media trashing someone was Clarence Thomas on his road to the Supreme Court. The media brought out and emphasized Anita Hill as she testified against him. Mr. Thomas was trashed by the mainstream media and politicians because he did not fit the proper image of a black person that they wanted.
