Unfortunately, you'll have to take this dead-beat to court. It won't be easy and a genetic testing will be done to prove he is the father (I am sure he will request this.) If the test are conclusive you are darned rights he has to pay child support. Good luck Marcy
Yes, he does.
An unmarried father cannot "choose" to not pay child support. The laws in every state require that a father pay for the support of his child. The mother must bring an action to the appropriate court so that a child support order can be established. Visitation rights are separate and a father can have visitation rights established by the court. Visitation rights are not dependent on paying child support.
No. He can sign over his rights but he would still be liable to pay child support. The only time he doesn't have to pay child support is if a stepdad wanted to adopt the child, then the biological father doesn't have to pay child support if he signs his rights away.
Paying child support will not cause the father to lose his parental rights - neither will not paying child support.
As the father has no assumed rights to the child, he can still be ordered to pay by the courts.
If it's like Illinois, the mother's husband is presumed to be the child's father unless/until proven otherwise. If someone else is proven to be the father, he will be potentially liable for child support.
Yes,the dead beat is expected to pay up.
