The vast majority of complex structures/designs use more than one area of technology. Perhaps the most important one is actually computer technology, as computers are an important active safety feature for roller coaster operations and are vital in designing the actual roller coaster. Computer simulations are able to realtively-easily calculate the advanced physics (stresses, curves, air resistence and other factors) that are required to make the design work as safely as possible. With better computer design tools, more radical designs are able to be built. Another major area of technology is materials science. The availability of materials fitting specific needs can be a major factor limiting the capabilities of a roller coaster or any design in general. There are of course many other types of technology such as manufacturing technology that are related to the coaster

What are the early disasters of roller coasters?

Modern roller coasters are quite safe; they have many checks and are monitored often to ensure they remain safe. However, ride accidents do occur. People who aren't riding can be hit by the coaster if they enter the coaster area. As well, people who are too small can fall out of the ride if they aren't secured safely.

Why do roller coasters use energy?

Any friction is due to the: 1, Area of contact. 2. Type of material 3. Force applied. In any roller friction the area of contact is minimized by the rollers however with high velocity the force of gravity exerts on the wheels to generate friction. When the coasters come down from the hill sections the friction is maximum as the opposing gravity forces acts on the moving kinetic force.
