What attempts were made to establish peace after World War 1?
The Treaty of Versailles created the League of Nations. This body was intended to mediate future disputes among nations, but it proved to be too weak to be really effective.

The main languages in the World now, by population but not necessarily in number order, are Chinese, various forms of Spanish, and English (mainly the US dialect).
