NKJV Acts 1:23-26

23 And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. 24 And they prayed and said, "You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen 25 to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place." 26 And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Life of Matthias as a disciple?

Matthias was picked by the Apostles to take the place of Judas. Not much else is said about him.

Matthias who replace Judas the same as Matthew of the 12 disciple?

Yes, Matthias was chosen to replace Judas Iscariot as one of the twelve disciples. However, Matthew (also known as Levi) was a different disciple who was already among the original twelve chosen by Jesus.

Where in the Bible is the story of Jesus washing the disciple feet?

It's found in John 13. It took place at the Passover... the "Last Supper."

Could Judas still be alive?

If you mean Judas Iscariot, the disciple of Jesus: no. The gospels are pretty clear that he died. (They're collectively a little fuzzier on exactly how he died and what happened to his body afterward, but there's a general agreement on the "Judas: Dead" part.) Believing that he was still alive means you have to disbelieve the gospels, which are essentially the only indications we have that he ever lived in the first place. Hopefully you see the problem here.

Why was Judas selected as a disciple?

Because Judas would eventually betray Jesus. But God knows what is going to happen and he knew that Judas would betray Him and that was part of God's plan for Him to die on the cross and save us from hell. so if Jesus would have not picked Judas as a disciple then the Crucifixion would not have taken place the way that God meant it to!Answer #2:As Jesus is supposed to be the manifestation of God on earth, he doomed himself to suffer 33 years of human misery out of an eternity of (presumably) bliss. Definitely a sacrifice but, in the grand scheme of things, put-uppable-with. Especially as he made the bloodthirsty rules in the first place. On the other hand, in order to put Jesus in this place to make this supposed blood payment, Judas would have to condemn himself to 'eternal damnation', and the condemnation of all, for all eternity. Of the two, I consider the second the greater 'sacrifice'. Judas would therefore be the 'true' saviour. Thank God it's a load of hokum.

Which disciple place did Paul take?

How did Judas iscariot become a disciple?

We are not told 'how' Judas became a disciple except that he was chosen by Jesus. This does not mean that Jesus made a mistake in choosing someone who would betray him as he knew from the outset his mission and his fate, and predicted his death and resurrection many times. What we do know is that Judas was not from Galilee (Iscaria is not in that area) and was the 'keeper of the purse' i.e. the disciples' 'treasurer'. However, John's account tells us that he often helped himself to money from the common fund; whether this is actually so or whether it is John's character assassination, we don't know. In recent times there have been moves to make Judas into a saint. The reason for this was that, as Jesus' betrayer, it can be argued that Judas was doing God's work to bring about Jesus' death and resurrection and, consequently, our salvation. Although controversial, this idea fits well into the reasons why, presumably, Jesus, as an expert in other peoples' characters, chose Judas in the first place.

How many disciples are there?

There were 12 disciples when Jesus walked the earth. Luke 6:13-16 gives us all their names. Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus and hung himself, so after Jesus ascended back to heaven, Matthais took Judas' place. Today, anyone who has accepted Christ as their saviour, invited him into their lives, and who actively pursues him is also His disciple. :)

Jesus brothers were James, Joseph Jr., Simon, and Judas. No John. (reference Matthew 13:55 and Mark 6:3.) There was an entirely different James who was a fisherman - his brother was named John.
