That is an individual decision by the patient, but generally JW patients will accept any non-blood medical treatment, including blood substitutes like saline, ringer's, or some other volume expander. There may be some types of autoglous cell salvage that the patient might deem as acceptable to their individual conscience. Some blood fractions may be acceptable to the patient, again this is according to the individual's conscience. Generally speaking, JW's do not accept whole blood or any of the four main components: red cells, white cells, platelets, or plasma.
