If the object sinks or floats depends on mass or weight. The object can be made of the same material, but if the weight is not the same (say if it is heavery than water) it will sink.
if its heavier than water it sinks. lighter floats
Not a clue. Please Tell Me The Answer ?? :)
Iron doesn't float. To float it has to be lighter than water. It is heavier.
i dont know why it floats i think because its more soda in it and the can i lighter and coke is heavier
The density of one tectonic plate is heavier than the other. The lighter plate 'floats on top of the heavier one, which is slowly forced down into the earth.
The material is lighter and more buoyant and floats upward.
Styrofoam is lighter than water, so it floats. In nature, heavy objects are more effected by gravity, so they are forced down.
Heating things up causes them to expand. As a result, a hot air balloon floats because the envelope containing the air (the balloon) has less air in it then the air outside the balloon at a lower temperature. This might be what you're thinking about.
They form individual layers depending on their densities...the liquids with lighter density floats on liquid with heavier density......
Add a drop of water: when it is thinking down to the bottom then it is heavier, when lighter it will stay on the upper surface, when density is equal then it floats in the middle.
Because water is heavier than oil.So oil is lighter and it floats above the water surface. That is why when there are oil spills, you can esily see oil float over water.
Because the density of ice is less than that of water, the ice floats on the water. Think of density as weight. In cheer leading the heavier people pick up the lighter people because it is easier. It is easier for the water to "pick up" the ice because the ice is lighter. Therefore, the ice floats on top of the water instead of sinking to the bottom
