Usually, the orange and white cats are striped and the coloring is referred to as "tabby". Most are simply domestic short hairs. Morris cats are such.

the M on the forehead suggests that it is a Maine Coon --- The 'M' simply means it is a tabby, the natural coat pattern occurring on several breeds and mixed-breed cats. The colour of the cat does not suggest the breed, as many breeds can be orange and white and any mixed breed can be orange and white.
orange is sex linked dominate, a female orange cat will almost always have a few orange kittens, and a male orange cat can have orange daughters --- If the orange one is the mother, all the male kittens will be orange. If the orange is the father, you wont get any ginger kittens but you will get tortoiseshell female kittens.
