Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe in the record of the Ascension of Jesus Christ as recorded in the King James Version of The Bible.

Mormon Doctrine, a popular book written by Mormon Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, says, "The particular instance which is commonly referred to as the ascension of Christ is that formal occasion on the mount of Olivet when he took leave in dramatic form from his disciples. "While they beheld," the record avers, "he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sign. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1:9-11)

"It should be noted particularly that he here ascended as a tangible Being, a Personage having that body of flesh and bones which those who beheld him to up had theretofore handled and felt and which had eaten food in their presnce (Luke 24:36-43). After this formal ascension, our Lord ministered personally again on earth both to Paul and others in the old world and to chose prophets in modern times. (See Acts 9:1-9; 22:6-16; Revelation 1:13-18)"

Jesus the Christ, another popular book written by Mormon Apostle James E. Talmage, says, "When Christ and the disciples had gone "as far as to Bethany," the Lord lifted up his hands, and blessed them; and while yet he spake, he rose frmo their midst, and they looked upon him as he ascended until a cloud received him out of their sight. While the apostles stood gazing steadfastly upward, two personages, clothed in white apparel, appeared by them; these spake unto the Eleven, saying, "Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."... The Lord's ascension was as truly a literal departure of material Being as his resurrection has been an actual return of his spirit to his own corporeal body, theretofore dead."

What are the bad things that they say about Mormons?

Many things that people say against Mormons simply come from someone who is uninformed or has a different opinion. This does not mean that it is bad, but it is often offensive. Those who are uninformed or misinformed often say: -Mormons are polygamist (this practice was banned by the church over 120 years ago in 1890) -Mormons dont believe in the Bible (Mormons consider the King James Version of the Bible as sacred scripture and are encouraged to study it daily) -Mormons don't believe in Jesus (Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is their Savior, just like all Christians) -Mormons are cultish (Mormons live and dress and act just like most anyone else in society. They do not live on compunds, etc.) -Mormons worship Joseph Smith (Mormons believe Joseph Smith was a prophet, just like Moses or Abraham, not a god to be worshipped) -Mormons kidnap, brainwash, coerce, etc (Mormons wish everyone to make their own decisions, and define their standards by Scripture) Those who have different opinions and say things that are offensive to Mormons often say: -Mormons are not Christian (Mormons are not traditional Protestant Christians, but they do still believe in the Bible and salvation through Jesus Christ.) -Mormons are lying (Mormons honestly believe they are telling the truth) -Mormonism is a pyramid scheme (Mormons believe in paying a Tithe and in missions work to gain converts, but believe this is Biblically based and do not seek converts for monetary gain) -Mormons are unbiblical (Mormons believe that they are following the Bible very strictly, but the Bible can be interpreted differently by different people) -Mormonism is false (this is obviously just an opinion, but one that is often offensive to those who honestly believe)
