Parents retain legal custody until the child reaches the state's age of majority or a court rules otherwise. In cases where minors arbitrarily leave without parental permission the parents have several options that can be used. One option is to request the court to release them from their parental obligations and have the minor child being made a ward of the state and remanded to the custody juvenile authorities. A few states have procedures for the emancipation of a minor who is at least 16, but the such petitions are rarely granted.

dont do anything esspecially dont fight.play good cop but be the best friend, eventually you learn so called friends suck.and they,ll need a comfortable place to run when they do learn,it might as well be home,or at least you hope.you were young once youreself ,be a smart adult As much as we love them andwant to protect them from harm there does unfortunately come a time when we have to slacken the safety reigns so that they can get their footing along with their confidence because you allowed them that chance they will want to prove to you that they can be trusted just like they told us when weve been in this situation before winning every single one so be strong take a deep breath and take that step in letting go now is the right time to lose the occasional clash of minds showing them that we do trust them we can be fair do it now and if they have always got the opportunity to stay out all night the novelty of it will wear off and it will be the start of a whole new relationship with a whole new sensible young adult that are a constant wonder to you and you will look back here and see just how far they have come since today and maybe feeling a little pang of guillt for not having the guts to slacken the reigns a bit sooner because after all you are a wonderful parent aent you so what on earth are you woried about enjoy and be proud</P>
