To fix a 1999 Ford Explorer with a rear lift gate that will not open, first check to make sure the lock is not damaged or broken. Then, access the inside of the lift gate by entering the vehicle. Unbolt the lift gate from the hinges and remove the gate. You can then repair the lock or see if the mounting arms are bent or damaged.
It is usually a Torx bit. It been a while since I have done it so I cant remember the size. I do remember it was a larger size. Good luck.

The Ford and Carter presidencies failed to repair the damage done to the reputation of the presidency by the Watergate scandal because they pardoned NIxon. They decided to sweep it under the rug instead of correcting the wrongs Nixon done.
nothing should be done with vent hose. it is there so the diff can vent when pressure builds up while driving. the hose is to stop dirt and moisture entering thru an open hole It shouldn't be hanging down. It should be secured up above the rear axle on the frame or cross support with enough slack to allow the axle to travel up and down.
I had this problem, there was a build-up of carbon in the fuel system and the Oxygen regulator. There is a chemical the garage used that cleaned it out and disolved it. The truck runs great now, and have not had that problem since. They said it is supposed to be done every 15,000 miles or so.
2200.00 done right!
Just had this done (Feb 2011) at a local Ford dealership. The cost with an oil cahnge was $613.00.
Replace the pump. Your local auto parts store will probably have one in stock.
2005 ford explorer's do not have a dipstick, the transmission is sealed and needs to be done by a dealer unless you are prepared to do a lot of work
There is a problem with the SRS. Working on the air bags is very dangerous, so I recommend you take it to the dealer. Ask if this may be done under warranty or if there is a recall.
We just had an estimate done on our 2001 Ford Explorer and it was approximately $2500. We think that is extremely high so we are researching a second opinion.
how difficult is it to change spark plugs on a 2002 ford explorer. It is a 4x4 and has the initials on it xtl or something like that. Can you please help me cause they are trying to charge me an arm and leg to have it done.
The steering wheel has to be removed since it has Air bags this MUST be done by a professional
This can be done with the code on the door. Check in the owner's manual and it will explain how this is done. If you do not have a manual respond that you don't and I will detail mine.
The wiring or the locking mechanism may be damaged in your ford explorer. You need to take it to an auto shop to have diagnostic testing done.
I just done 60 miles on red light in a 1999 ford transit van
5 quarts ( 4.7 liters ) WITH FILTER CHANGE - it will show above the cross hatch area on the dipstick when first changed but that's OK , that's what my 1995 Ford Explorer XLT has done for over 13 years
