A friend had a Mazda Eunos with the ''Miller Cycle'' engine which would randomly die while driving (almost like somebody turned the key off). It turned out to be that there is a metal fuel filter in the fuel tank itself which was completely blocked with what looked like mud. From memory there is also a fuel filter in the engine bay somewhere, but when it was cut open and inspected it was nowhere near as bad.

Fuel starvation I might guess, check your fuel filter and pump.
Possibly low fuel pressure
