If you are experiencing problems with fuel pressure, there are other explanations than the fuel pump not working. A clogged fuel strainer attached to the pump, or a clogged fuel filter, for instance. In any case, remember to thoroughly syphon the fuel out of the tank before you work on it, for safety.
