Make sure it has clean water, good feed, sufficient grazing space, shelter for her to go to during inclement weather, and a fence surrounding it as opposed to being tethered to a tree, which is something strongly opposed by most producers. If she's a dairy cow she should be milked--if she's lactating that is--once or twice a day. With a beef steer, simply making sure he has good grazing and good feed is sufficient.
