There are a lot of things to do in DC. Some of the things are listed below.

  • International Spy Museum
  • Smithsonian
  • White House
  • Capitol
  • Monuments (Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, etc.)
  • Holocaust Museum (a bit graphic, but they have privacy screens if you don't want to see the graphic stuff.)
  • Arlington National Cemetery
  • Supreme Court Building
  • National Museum of Crime and Punishment
  • Bureau of Engraving and Printing

You can arrange tours of the White House, Capital, and Washington Monument with one of your state senators. They can also help get tickets to museums in advance.

It's the capitol of the United States, so it has a lot of political attractions such as the White House, the Capitol building (where the Senate and House of Representatives meet) and the Supreme Court. It also has MANY memorials/monuments. A few are the Washington (George Washington) monument, Jefferson Memorial, 9/11 Memorial and Martin Luther King Jr. memorial. Also, it has some very good cupcake places (they're "all the rage" at the moment) such as Georgetown Cupcakes (home of the TLC show D.C. Cupcakes). Also the suburban cities around D.C. have their own attractions such as Six Flags in Maryland.
