Autozone sells a kit using an electrical valve instead of the pressure sensing valve.
Add a couple of inline fuel filters to act as the gas resevoir and clip in 12v from each fuel pump to switch the valve. Google your questions, and you will find this solution documented with pictures.

Mines is the same way. I think you would have to replace the entire OD switch.
