New studies show that canned foods may contain dangerous levels of BPA. In one study, scientists tested 50 canned foods which included brand name fish, fruits, vegetables, beans, soups, sodas, and milk obtained in both the U.S. and Canada. Their tests showed that BPA was found in 92% of the foods they tested. They also noted that BPA levels can be different between cans of the same product and same brand.

Do any brands provide BPA-free canned tomatoes?
Pomi Chopped Tomatoes, Bionature Tomato Paste, Bionature Strained Tomatoes, Muir Glen, Trader Joe's, and Jovial all use BPA-free packaging. Eden Foods uses BPA-free amber glass jars, but the lids do contain BPA. However, there is a vinyl coating on top of the BPA that prevents the food from coming into direct contact with the BPA.
Does older Tupperware contain BPA?

A recent independent study by Good Housekeeping of BPA plastic containers designed for microwave use demonstrated that BPAs do not appear to leach into food from these containers. Every product will be different. Polyester can contain BPA and I have heard of BPA found in clothing products. There's probably no way to know if your polyester contains BPA unless the manufacturer has come out since the BPA issue became known and states that their products contain no BPA. Hopefully it will be removed from all products someday along with Fluoride, HFCS, Aspartame, MSG, and all the other chemicals there knowingly poisoning us with.

BPA stands for Bisphenol-A. BPA is a synthetic estrogen found in many water bottles, canned goods, and liquid infant formula. Also, it can be found in clear polycarbonate plastics and tough epoxy resins, which are found in products such as glasses, and computer and cellphone casings. When ingested, it has been found to increase disorders, such as chromosomal and reproductive system abnormalities, impaired brain and neurological functions, cancer, cardiovascular system damage, adult-onset diabetes, early puberty, obesity and resistance to chemotherapy. Recently, it has been a popular topic of concern since it has been found in urine of many Americans. EWG, Environmental Working Group, conducted a study that found BPA had disolved into half of the randomly selected canned foods, beverages, and canned liquid infant formula when present in the can's lining.
