Sure you can, but the longer you leave it in the less chance of getting back in later. The smaller jewelry will cause the hole to shrink to its size...You should be ok for an evening change out thoTatuBaron it will be loose. mine is a 14 well unless if you want it to be smaller again. get a 12 gauge. shove it through put in the smaller gauge and it should close back up to the smaller size cause i had mine at a 8 but now its back to a 14
