The Islamic State does not want anything specificallyfrom Libya. The Islamic State wants to unite the regions that have historically been ruled by Muslims into one unified Caliphate. Libya is one of these territories and the Islamic State saw an opportunity to sweep into the power vacuum in Libya because of the Second Libyan Civil War to expand their worldwide clout.
