What causes a 1993 Grand Am with a 3point3 to stall when you come to a stop but you can put it in park and it starts right up and runs fine until you put it in drive again?

i'm answering my own question here,but i found the answer right here on FAQ. If this exact thing happens to you it's the torque converter clutch selonoid or tcc selonoid. On a 3t40 transmission it can be changed with the tranny still in the car,but with a 4t60 tranny, it has to be removed. All cars from 1995 and older have 3t40,all newer have the 4t60.Although the 95 models can have either one or the other. Take the drivers side wheel off and the switch is just behind the side pan on the bottom off valve body. Get the selonoid and side pan gasket (about 110 bucks)first and you will see it.Take your time,it can be done.

Probably either the fuel pump or starter coil going out. Starter coil would be no cranking, pump would be cranking but no spark.
