Sounds like your imobilizer. You'll kick yourself if this works, but try locking and unlocking the door to reset it. This often happens if you remove or flatten the battery and/or jump start the car. If resetting doesn't do it then you'll probably need to get an alarm specialist to look at the alarm's imobilizer function.
Have you checked the alternator?
Check the fluid level first,most manufactors recomend checking with the vehicle running and on level ground,also is the fluid clean ,and does it have a burnt smell to it. ?

Have you checked the drl relay?
If the headlight that runs through the modulator first is out then the daytime running lights won't work. Change the bulb and the daytime lights should then work.
Check your timing belt!

Have you checked the pump to make sure its not leaking? My brothers had a bad hose and the fluid was spraying out in the trunk and running under the carpet. The top would go down but not up because of the hose that burst open. Hope this helps!

Why are you disconnecting the battery with the engine running? Never mind, you've probably already figured this out by now, but there's a good chance your alternator is fried and your spark plugs are running on battery power. Get your alternator checked out. New ones aren't that expensive (approx. $50) and can be changed by anyone handy with tools.
Have your ignition module and switch checked. I had the same problem and that was the answer.
