Bad voltage regulator
It is under the rear of the alternator.
$340 for the alternator for a Jeep Liberty with a $70 labor charge. 250 miles from home, I had no other options and they knew it...
check your fuses if they are good the voltage regulator is in the pcm eng computer
the alternator is on top of the engine start by takin off the fan belt and then removing the wires conected to the alternator finally unbold the bolts holding it on and then take it off
The voltage regulator is faulty.
The regulator is part of the engine computer on a 1996 Jeep. It is not in the alternator.
maybe you need a new alternator
Weak battery or alternator output.
A loose / slipping alternator belt, or the alternator itself is gone bad.
All 1998 Jeep vehicles have an airbag.
The valves are not adjustable on a 1998 Jeep.
